March 21 approximately
This is another one of those astronomical Sabbats, that take place based on the sun. It's the spring equinox, meaning the day when both the day and night are exactly equal.
The exact date shifts from the 20th to the 22nd from one year to the next. After today, the days will finally be longer than the nights again as spring is really in the air.
It is likely that this is the original Pagan holiday behind the Easter story of Christianity, which is why we see eggs and bunnies at this time of year.
The Goddess continues in her maiden form at Ostara, as the newness of spring is still the main theme. Many new animals are born at this time of the year, and the traditional farmstead would be coming alive.
